Angel Investing Brings Money to Small Communities

Chicago, IL (Vocus) October 1, 2010

Currently in the U.S., angel investments contribute over 93 percent of all seed funding under $ 250,000 for small businesses, according to recent research. But this wasnt always the case.

Ten years ago, if a start-up in small town Missouri or Montana was looking for capital, their resources were limited. Most big money venture capitalists lived in California, New York or Boston, and tapping into those faraway funds was a lot harder if you didnt live in on the coasts and didnt access to industry power players. Big-time venture capitalists were rarely willing to take a gamble on a niche idea in a market they were completely unfamiliar with.

Nowadays, its possible to find angel investors not just across the US, but all over the world. Also, investors are more interested in the potential return than where the start-up is based as communication and travel have become so convenient and cheap. Access to these business angels has also become much easier. Websites like Angel Investment Network connect angel investors with entrepreneurs to create a mutually beneficial business relationship based on each partys criteria.

On these sites, a business entrepreneur from Arizona can list his business idea and the capital he needs and then take offers from business angels in New Hampshire or Illinois, anywhere near or far. Some angels initially put up $ 2,500, some $ 250,000 - the potential is endless.

A handful of these sites even specialize in regions, like the Midwest or New England, appealing to those angel investors who do prefer to invest in their local communities. Angels who prefer to take on a mentorship role can offer guidance to their invested start up business, whereas others will scour these listings looking for the greatest financial opportunities or the chance to invest in a potential technological advancement.

With the business angel sector having grown exponentially in the scarce-lending times of the recession, this new model of start-up funding is only expected to grow, making viable business ideas a reality in even the tiniest communities.

Raising Money Online Securely and Simply: New Website click2cause.com Puts the Fun in Fundraising for International Human Rights, KidsAbility, and Grassroots Causes

Toronto, Ontario (PRWEB) July 14, 2011

The founders of http://www.click2cause.com understand the frustration around trying to raise money at a grassroots level for many worthy causes. Large charities have access to budgets to create far-reaching advertising campaigns, print fundraising collateral, build intricate websites, and hire administrative and management staff. This makes it very difficult for smaller, yet equally worthy, causes to compete for donations.

click2cause.com is built to facilitate the connection of Cause Champions with donors and Supporters. In less than five minutes, Champions create a profile complete with descriptions, photos, and video and can immediately share their cause through various social networks such as Facebook and Twitter, as well as by email. Donations are securely processed, either directly or through PayPal, and managed by click2cause.com thus allowing the Cause Champions to focus on raising money.

Supporters are able to 'meet' the Cause by connecting through the comments section of each profile to learn more about the Champions, the progress of the cause, and other ways to help, and also share with their social networks.

Some of the newest causes on click2cause.com are:

KidsAbility: An organization that helps special needs children reach their full potential which will then assist them in leading more independent lives and give them the feeling of community. Just a few of the life-changing services KidsAbility provides are physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy. KidsAbility relies on the generous support of the community to help these kids and their families. http://www.click2cause.com/cause.php?id=23

Redemption Research for Health and Educational Development Society: Provides services for poor and below-poverty line community in India, regardless of caste and creed. Recently Laila Cyclone, JAL Cyclone and heavy rains to loss the entire crop and households in the Districts of Guntur, Prakasam, Nellore, Chittoor, East and West Godavari Districts of Andhra Pradesh, India. This cause works to provide educational necessities so children can continue their education. http://www.click2cause.com/cause.php?id=24

Residence Papillon is part of the daily lives of more than 200 families, hosting eight to twelve disabled youngsters. It is open 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. They provide families precious time to decompress and give their kids a needed change in their routine and environment. This cause is looking for funds to create fantastical bedrooms that will spark creativity and inspire these kids to dream big. http://www.click2cause.com/cause.php?id=30

Many of the causes are at a grassroots level and are not seeking large amounts of money; they need to raise funds for specific goals and projects. For more information about causes and how to support, visit http://www.click2cause.com.

Top Entrepreneur, Turned Author, Releases New Book for All Consumers: The Secrets of Money: A Guide for Everyone on Practical Financial Literacy.

Fort Collins, CO (PRWEB) December 10, 2007

Entrepreneur, and now author, Braun Mincher has released his first book, The Secrets of Money: A Guide for Everyone on Practical Financial Literacy. The 472-page information-packed book is being considered by many as the "Encyclopedia of Personal Finance" and is the single-source of what EVERYONE (young or old, rich or poor) needs to know about basic Financial Literacy. Braun Mincher was inspired several years ago to write this book after seeing how financially illiterate many consumers are, and how little is being done in the way of financial education at any age or degree level. Topics in the book include: Consumer Credit, Mortgages, Real Estate, Car Buying, Insurance, Taxes, Investing & Saving for the Future, Estate Planning and Keys for Financial Success.

Author Braun Mincher is a young and successful entrepreneur who had the ability to "retire" several years ago at the age of 30, a self-made multi-millionaire, despite dropping out of college to grow his first business. His new book is targeted to all consumers, regardless of age, education or income level, and not just the business or financial savvy, as many competing titles cater to. Using a concise and conversational writing style, Braun reveals what is not taught in schools, at any level, short of a specialized degree. Because of the practical, rather than theoretical, manner in which the information is presented, using real-life examples and case studies, readers will clearly see how items of interest relate to their own individual financial situations.

Would you believe that doctors and lawyers make the same financial mistakes as homeless people? According to Braun Mincher, "40% of consumers live beyond their means, half are living paycheck-to-paycheck, and the national savings rate is now a negative number. We need to reverse this trend through better financial education of both adults and students or we face dire consequences in the coming years." Mincher has developed a highly comprehensive website at FinancialLiteracyQuiz.com with numerous resources to better educate consumers about all aspects of Practical Financial Literacy. One of the highlights is a multiple-choice, 50-question, "Financial Literacy Quiz" where visitors can test their own knowledge and compare scores with their friends. However, those not able to pass the quiz with a score of at least 75% should seek additional Financial Literacy education.

Following Braun Mincher's financial advice will help readers to:

Make more money by putting them in better control of their finances;
Save them money; possibly thousands of dollars over a lifetime; and,
Be better educated consumers when it comes to money.
Anybody can write a book, but Braun Mincher is equally passionate about creating a nationwide movement and positive change of behavior when it comes to personal finance. To this end, he has issued a "Challenge" to high schools and colleges across the country to make practical Financial Literacy classes a graduation requirement, just like math, English, science, etc. Presently, only 7 states have such a requirement. Naturally, most parents and business leaders are in favor of this initiative, but some in the academic and education communities have pushed back with a multitude of excuses. Not easily taking "no" for an answer, and in the same entrepreneurial fashion that made him a success in business, Braun Mincher is forging ahead with his project, and subject to certain conditions, is not only offering to provide the curriculum, but also offering a textbook for each student at no charge.

The Secrets of Money: A Guide for Everyone on Practical Financial Literacy is available through BraunMincher.com, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Borders and other nationwide retailers. The ISBN-13 is 978-0-9797003-0-9 and the soft cover price is $ 21.95.

About the Author: Braun Mincher is a young and successful entrepreneur who had the ability to "retire" several years ago at the age of 30, a self-made multi-millionaire, despite dropping out of college to grow his first business. NBC's Today Show, The Wall Street Journal, Inc. Magazine, Success, POV and Nation's Business--have all showcased his talents. Winner of the prestigious Entrepreneur of the Year award, Braun was able to become financially independent by working hard and following his own financial advice, which is now shared in his new book--and others have paid Braun $ 300 an hour to obtain. He now pursues his passion of better educating ALL consumers, and not just the business or financial savvy, on the topic of Practical Financial Literacy.
